How to Fix Out-of-Sync Subtitles

Subtitle timing offsets frequently occur when a video has an intro bumper added, frames dropped during export, or when translating transcripts created for a different video cut.

1. Constant Timing Delay vs. Progressive Drift

Constant Delay: Every subtitle is early or late by the same fixed offset. Use Constant Offset to shift all cues by exact milliseconds.
Progressive Drift: Subtitles start in sync but drift further out of sync over time due to framerate mismatches (e.g. 23.976 fps vs 25 fps). Use Two-Point Drift Sync to stretch or compress timing linearly.

Positive vs. Negative Shifting

Positive Shift (+): Delays captions if they appear too early before the speaker begins talking.
Negative Shift (-): Speeds up captions if dialogue has already started before captions show up.
