Why Convert ASS / SSA to SRT?
Advanced SubStation Alpha (.ass) is a powerful subtitle specification created for desktop media players like VLC and mpv. However, when you need to import your transcript into video editors like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve, or upload captions to YouTube and Vimeo, these platforms reject ASS files or display garbled override code.

How the Conversion Works
Dynamic Event Parsing
ASS files define columns in a dynamic Format: line. SubPreflight reads your column ordering (even when customized in Aegisub) and maps each dialogue cue accurately.
Safe Tag Stripping
Formatting brackets like {\b1}, {\pos(...)}, and {\fad(...)} are removed. Hard line breaks (\N) are translated into standard multi-line dialogue.
Centisecond to Millisecond Translation
ASS timecodes use 2-digit centiseconds (0:01:23.45). SubPreflight converts these into broadcast-standard 3-digit comma milliseconds (00:01:23,450).
